GOSH its hott today! where the heck ARE U, SPRING? don't even TELL me that there is no tights weather because I have soooo many pairs to wear! hmf. The warm weather seems to take my stress away, dunno why, but maybe its because I DID get alot of things done last week- ordered all my postcards + MOOs ect. Still need to work on those silly cake plate bases UGH. Had a book class yesterday + we made this :

...except only 4 people showed up which is disappointing. On top of Jane LAYING me off t the Frame UP basically, I'm really not going back this time, EVER. But again, somehow the SUN makes it all not seem so bad. THANK U SUN. Gotta do some toyzz reading (aka SKIMMING mwhaha)

SO close your eyes + picture this : 2 hours non-stop of girls running around in PRINCESS outfits! Doesn't it make you want a nap? Yeah me too! Thats how I spent the AM - early afternoon - at the Fairy Tale Festival downtown making exquisite corpses gaaaaaah. Summer camp is WAY better because no one wears a princess dress hahahah! (At least Chris was there with the Walters so he feels my pain!) After that, Ben + I played with concrete- will take some pics once its dried, we made bases for some pieces for my show. Onto finishing my paper YES!

So I got the email today announcing I DIDN'T get nominated for the Marburg, I def got my hopes up too high. I'm pretty sure who did get nominated, + its probably because my proposal was lacking MEAT. At least my work has some PIZAZZ. Stuff that into your pocket bitches!! Can you tell I'm a little disappointed?! Oh well, at least I don't have to write the real thing because I'm pretty much checked out. And this 8 pager due on Monday isn't going to write itself....!! THIS does make it a little better.

I am determined to become the blogger of you DREAMS! Just got a lil more inspiration from my GIRL SUMMER- check out her photo blog, super FABULOUS. + Ukazoo's Bookmarks blog ( where I'm featured!! ) Just finished 2 presentations up for this week, now onto a LONG paper that I haven't started, perhaps I have senioritis round 2! complete with a bad diet, late night txting, dreams about boys (when I do sleep) + anxiety about the real world. Aaron Bros closed last week forever + that didn't help- friends losing jobs makes me sad, esp when I hate one of mine! AVAM's Glo Ball was a hoot, got dressed up + trashed, + got paid! What else could I ask for!! Heres something to chk out

in February, MANY people are participating in making something every day! I'm going to make friendship bracelets, although I'm a little behind! check out the blog, its really fun I'm trying to teach myself some discipline that could spill over into exercise or diet land.

we had a senior meeting today, kind of a wake up call! not really for me but its a lil scary to know that I have about 15 weeks until graduation! I'm trying to bunker down and make some more popcorn boxes in the the meantime while I'm coming up with new ideas. thank god for strawberry margaritas!

its been a whole month since I last posted boo! school is back in session for the last time! hooray! thinking about the senior show, graduation + SUMMER.. eventhough its 50 degrees in my house right now heh. in a few SHORT months, I'll be a MICA GRAD, laying on the beach in North Carolina aaaah. back to REALITY- I have 3 classes this semester, so far so good. toys! is my new favorite class for obvious reasons, its going to be tough to decide what to bring in for show and tell though- seriously! Ben's birfday is coming up on Friday the 13th + I'm looking for fabulous things to get him, I love buying gifts!! going to go do some sewing before din.

Hope everyone is having a GLORIOUS DAY! We had Christmas morning at Dad + Ems- 9 kids, 5 dogs, 2 cats + tons of FOOD + GIFTS! Some highlights include Dan's helicopter, Melissa's Mickey + Amanda's air filter HA! and Em's winning scratch offs, I'm trying to get in on that. We came to Ma's around lunch time as they were eating brats + burgers as you can see^^^ + we will be going to Jul's in about an hour! I will post some more pics from my TEENY digital camera soon. So the opening was AMAZING on Friday, thanks to all the fabulous people who came out and had some coffee! ALL the ones I LOVE THE MOST basically! Don't think I have sold anything yet but I have a few months for the dough to start rolling in HA. I learnt to make pom-poms this week and it is literally solving all KINDs of gift wrapping dilemmas! And I taught Felice to crochet, she is going to make 10 scarves by tonight probably. No more AVAM for a few weeks but back to the Jane UP. They are nice and busy HOORAY. Well, gonna make some more pom-poms and scrub the TUB.

Tomorrow is my final crit for Thesis, I'm a liddle nervous but I have worked soooo hard on these pieces that I'm pretty confident. Gotta find something cute to wear though! Friday is another crit + my opening at NIGHT!!!!!!! see above! Hope to see many many people there- for the cupcakes if nothing else! The school countdown has officially begun- one WEEK ARGH. Tonight I tried to soften the blow at el salto with Chris and Linds, it worked, except Linds and leaving for Salisbury. WHY IS SUMMER SO FAST? It seems to be faster then any other season EVER>> maybe fall is short too because the leaves die pretty quick. Oh well, I yam looking forward to fall though. I like wearing scarves and boots, and getting a pumpkin latte from DOUBLE Ds. and Halloween and Dads wedding.. OH MAN it looks like a busy season. Maybe I will just start with going back to school and take it from there.

I seriously need to GET CEREAL about my blog. Lets get it under control. Anywho- about a week and some change until school starts... FOR THE LAST TIME. Cannot even comprehend it at this point, that NEXT fall, I won't be going back, maybe just frolicking in the leaves with Bean. So I got some new pens and markers for the semester that I probably won't use because I'm a fiber major... but I needed them just the same. In a few weeks I start my new fall internship at AVAM. I'm ecstatic that Felice asked me back, and paying me with moneys and random fun. BUHBYE Aaron Brothers, kindof. The fair starts this weekend, gotta go see if Ma's photos won any 5 dollar prizes. sooooooooo I haven't been blogging. But I HAVE been busy- working so many hours that I have calluses on mah toes. Been making some books & I'm going to be teaching a small class on July 12th @ UKazoo in Towson, ONLY 10 bucks and materials provided! DO IT! Hopefully people will enjoy it and I can do several classes!!
Next week is vacation numero uno to the Outer Banx, should be fun and relaxing. Gotta take some pics with my new lomo Diana.
Theres a clothing show coming up at the Towson Arts Collective- I will enter some items after I return from the beach, it should be really interesting and fiber-rific he heee.

So class was canceled tonight, GREAT for me, not great for Allyson Smith, I hope everything is okay. Things to do, things to do- shoot screens and print, things that are holding up my work flow, and I need to come up with an idea for my book final. A flip book just won't do, perhaps something more tangible, like something fuzzy. I'll brainstorm. Tonight I yam kindof bored. I'm NEVER bored. It feels funny, maybe I should go get a hott fudge sundae. Or just crochet. PS.- Fashion show was this past weekend and Calvy's collection ROCKED. I guess its hard to be nostalgic when you're only 20 years old... but 15 was about 5 years ago so it counts. Ever since I made the book with what his face's LOVE notes, I just keep thinking about being in the passenger seat of the Jeep listening to Reel Big Fish really loud. What happened to ska anyway? Things DO change in 5 years, but I had it pretty good- somebody driving me around all the time, getting me in trouble, and pissing me off to no end. It's been awhile since my last post.. School is ON yadda yadda. I'm taking 18 credits & trying to stay alive. I go to school EVERY day & usually Sundays to do some printing, which is fine with me bc I LOVE IT. I'm totally happy to be silk screening again. I suppose I could have done it last semester, but it is just easier and more fulfilling to have a class JUST for it, esp. when its an independent study SWEEET. I also have a cinema class where we watch "offensive" or "transgressive" films. I wasn't so sure about it, realizing I yam quite sheltered when it comes to movies, but Ben is in class with me so its all good. We also have an Indian art history class together, Dad told us not to hold hands hahah! OH and Em is getting a PUPPY, SO excited! We came up with a bazillion names- my favorite is Biggie Tuesdays, because the pup is gonna be teeny tiny oh goodness! I'll post some pics when she arrives. Well it is homework time, and back to my steady diet of trail mix and mike and ikes.

Well, today has been crazy. Erica got WED this morning at the Towson courthouse, congrats & good luck to her :D. But Jul dropped the bomb [as usual] and informed me that Jane's husband Chuck had passed yesterday. Total shocker. I was just talking about him to Leslie today and how hard it is/was to watch him deteriorate. He is DEFINITELY in a better place now and will be missed. His suffering is over and thats what I have to keep reminding myself. As for Jane, she is SUCH a Jane, and thats all I have to say. So the end to a life, but the beginning of a life as ONE .... all in one day basically. "what a fucked up day"- Julie

On another note, the show at TAC was amazing ( and still is amazing GO SEE IT ). They are a great group of people and I am looking forward to getting more involved with the gallery and such.

So Saturday I took a bus to NYC with my bros, dad, Emelie & her friend Miss Elizabeth. We got on one of those double decker tour buses = AWESOME! I've never really gone to NY to be a "tourist" before so it was a good time. We saw all the sites on the downtown tour and evethough it was chilly and I couldn't feel my toes it was SO worth it!

FALL BREAK!! what a GIMMICK. Its just a NORMAL weekend. Except for Friendly Farms on Sunday I can't wait. Never been there, just like Jul, but have heard rave reviews. && I have to work EXTRA on Monday & Tuesday. These weeks are going by really REALLY fast, they are pretty much blending together. We are halfway through the semester already... thats unreal. This is my fall break to do list:

Here are my ceramix, I think they turned out well. & I've been applique-ing my silkscreens to bags because I have some yardage and no screens for them. DAMN ART CLASSES. They move so quick I don't have time to use the outcome for crafty things. But I think the patchy sew job looks pretty okay. & there is BEAN before I cut his hair, he clearly needed a shape-up ;D. MMM that ice cream is making me hungry. I think I need to make some pillows with my patterns, I already made curtains for my room & I have some more left.

I'm in the library at school. And in ceramics, it kindof blows because I'm still trying to figure out how slips, stains and glazes all work together. My first project of ice cream cones is probably going to be a bust because of it. Oh well. I post pictures when they begin to emerge from the kiln. Self portrait assignment is next. NOTE to all teachers reading this- SELF PORTRAIT SUCKS... in any medium generally haha. Sorry to be so negative but the end result is usually either really cheesey, or immensely profound, mine is never the latter. In other news: WHY IS IT SO freaking hott?! Its September. Its IMPOSSIBLE to plan a wardrobe around Baltimore weather sheesh. I can see this entry is going to be mindless because thats what kind of mood I'm in today.

School time again. Back to way too much work, way too much stress, ect. I do LOVE some of my classes though. Uniformity is promising; learning about production and consumtion and such. Ceramics is beginning to get fun because I've never really worked with REAL clay. Heres a pic of my "production" for this week for Uniformity:I have to make theses for 2 hours every week, like an assembly line. I will have so many cute donuts by the end of the semester!! Today was fun, got to work with Sally O'Malley the chit chatter. I can really appreciate some silence right now. She does get all my work done though, and better than I can do it so I shouldn't complain.
In other news, Ma has this new "boyfriend"- go MOMS. She's totally a hottie!
Ben and I went over Matt's with some people tonight and watched a crazy kung-fu movie, not usually my bag but it was pretty sweet.

Had the day off today, pretty eventful. Got my hair did and my eyebrows. Went and watched lil Belle pretend to talk on a cell phone... SHES SO CUTE and BRILLIANT. Dad got me some flowers for my birthday, my BIG surprise !! Overall my birthday was pretty sweet. Dave, Ben & I went on a nice long ride today, checking out the greenery scenery. Hiiiii 2 days left of my job at the frame up. Its bittersweet right now. You never realize how HAPPY you can feel, until you quit your job. I told Jane on Sat morning that I was leaving, and she didn't really have a cow like I expected. She did read me the riot act about how all of the framers that she trains go to other stores. Its hard working for a small business. It can also be hard working for a HUGE conglomerate (like oak crest ugh) but A Brothers is just right. Something about an employee handbook outlining policies is turning me on at this point, compared to whatever Jane says, goes. I'm just ecstatic. And I get to buy professional clothes! In other news... Dave had his "my parents are in FL so I'm burning the f*cking house down" party, 2nd annual haha. Great night. BAD MORNING ;D

If you haven't seen Best of Molly SHannon on SNL, go rent it now. Seriously. Saw David tonight, hes hilarious, and skinny. We should have done some wii bowling, maybe next time. Why does Kitty enjoy being in the upstairs office? I would enjoy having him downstairs instead. hmph.

Work is so tiring. I think 8 hours seems much longer when you're wearing cowboy boots.
Ben is bringing Tom home from work, maybe he will help me with my books! I just realized that theres only 2 weeks and 2 days until vacation, thats so exciting. I literally wait ALL YEAR for the outter banx. I gotta get started on my t-shirt for the contest.

Tom officially graduated!! Will post some photos tomorrow, we were all cryin' like babies when he was walking in, with the rest of the Towson rugrats. & my hand is pretty much healed, and I'm glad because I seriously need to get some work done.

That poor Russian guy with TB. You know they have a guy in JAIL in a hospital because he was a threat? Crazy.

Shear Genius finale tonight, I'm pretty siked. Nothing to exciting going on, except TOMMY GRADUATING!! All those Parkville counselors that told him he wouldn't make it, can kiss it! I'm making a t-shirt for the occasion, I think I can make it with only one arm. ;)

Finally got to make a book today, with one and a half hands haha. Its pretty good for my first try I think. The tapes could be pulled tighter, but now I know for next time!

heres my NEW & IMPROVED BLOG! thanks to MR B Plum-kin. He rocks. <3 I designed it myself of course, its a nice spruce up I think. My hand is off the splint finally, but is still sore. Went to Jen's BBQ tonight where I had a daiquiri to ease the physical AND social pain of the party. But Linds came with and I enjoy her company now as much as I did in 8th grade, if not more. I'm glad that I'm not like every girl, but is it better to be unique and have a few friends, or to be like everyone and have LOTS of friends. The latter has never appealed to me.

So today is my day off, unfortunately I won't be making any books as planned.
Had a minor accident at work, 6 stitches on the back of my left hand...SUCKS. AND I have a splint for 4 days. I know I'm going to be miserable, not being able to craft anything for a while :(

Well, heres a new summer thing for me.
It will be fun talking to someone who doesn't talk back haha.
I just finished my firm workout, oh I am FEELIN' the burn!!
